In a Mindful Body class you can step away from the daily stresses of life and be completely immersed in your own well being.Practices such as Yoga and Pilates can help us to healthfully integrate our minds and bodies. Allowing us to to become more conscious of our strengths and our weaknesses. This leads us to a greater understanding of self and how we can effectively improve our health and wellbeing, returning the natural balance to our lives.I am Maria OM owner and director of the Mindful Body a Health & Wellness Studio. I would like to offer you our expert guidance and instruction in Yoga, Pilates and Reiki.Please come join us for a class in our beautiful new studio in Pompton Lakes. The first class is always free.
Our Teachers

Owner and Director Maria Ortega-Murphy

Formerly, a technical training manager in the software industry, Maria has over 20 years of corporate adult education experience. The stressful environments she encountered throughout her career in the computer business, lead her to study various techniques in mind/body health. Through her studies and personal practice she gained knowledge and insight into this new emerging field. The exercises she found most beneficial have been incorporated into her class curriculums.A Yogini (female practitioner and student of yoga) for over 30 years, Maria gained her Yoga Siromani (Teaching Certification), from the Yoga Vedanta Forest Academy, at The International Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centre in March of 1999. This internationally recognized organization has been training yoga teachers worldwide since 1960, and has graduated over 10,000 yoga instructors.Maria also completed the following certification courses: Professional in The Method® Pilates Apparatus & Matwork Instructor, The Physical Mind Institute; Personal Trainer, Nutrition & Wellness Consultant, AFPA; Resist-A-Ball C.OR.E. Instructor; Prenatal Fitness Instructor and Mat Science Instructor, AFAA; APEX Fitness Professional, APEX Fitness Group. She is also a Registered Yoga Alliance Teacher.

Sara Gallmann

Sara Gallmann is a 200 hour certified Yoga Teacher and has been teaching yoga in the northern NJ area for the last 12 years. A Yogini for most of her adult life, her studies became focused in the early 1990s and she received her teaching certification in 1998. Sara has an extensive background in fitness, receiving her Professional Aerobic Instructor certification from AFAA (Aerobics and Fitness Association of America) and her Personal Trainer Certification from ACE (American Council on Exercise) as well as an additional Mind/Body Integration specialty from ACE. She has taught aerobics, step aerobics, body sculpt and various other specialty classes for the last 30 years and still incorporates her fitness training into various creative fitness fusion classes. Most recently she has created a yoga program incorporating hula hooping Hoops & Yoga©. Sara is trained and certified in Reiki and Reflexology.Along with yoga and fitness, Sara has also pursued a lifelong love of music and is a singer/musician. Having received her B.A. in Music/Fine Arts she has found a great outlet for her talents and studies as a performer and presenter/promoter. She is the founder of Music at the Mission, a non-profit organization that presents concerts and open mics in West Milford, NJ, as well as host to several other musical events. She regularly sings and performs in various musical projects in the area.Sara is originally from Maryland but has lived in West Milford, NJ since 1980 with her husband and three children.

Brian Senna

Brian's interest in eastern culture and philosophy began at an early age and was primarily sparked by Japanese animation, martial arts and Godzilla movies. He studied Okinawan Karate from the age of 8 till he was 11. Musical interests took hold and he dropped his martial arts studies for the guitar and in his youth played in several bands. He later returned to martial arts studying Northern Shaolin Kung Fu. His study of Zen Buddhism began his infatuation with eastern philosophy and resulted in comparative studies of western, esoteric and the occult (that which is hidden from plain view) philosophies. In 2008 he began traveling to New York City to study Wing Tsun Kung Fu and embarked on an instructor training program. After 2 years he began questioning how much he really loved the fighting. While questioning his current path an old want to try real Yoga arose within him. From day one he became hooked and loved the peace and good feelings he received from adding Yoga to his daily life. It was not long after that, that he committed himself to the completion of a 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training program with Hot Yoga NJ.

Pilates

This body conditioning method improves muscle control, flexibility, coordination, strength and tone. You will learn how to experience movement from the inside out. Pilates exercises teach awareness of breath and alignment of the spine, and aim to strengthen the deep core muscles of the body.

No Frame

Hatha Yoga

This 60 minute class will help you to develop strength and flexibility while improving your posture, circulation and concentration. With a consistent Yoga practice you will find an increase in your vital lung capacity and energy levels. Yoga is also benefical in relieving stress and anxiety.

Pilates MVe Chair Classes

Meditation

Meditate

When you want it all you want an MVe Chair Class. These balanced workouts offer a total body experience perfect for the beginner and advanced practitioner alike. In this class you will prepare your core with stabilization and strengthening moves. Next, you will stretch and lengthen your spine to encourage fluid and limber movement. You'll finish by toning and polishing the muscles of the arms and legs for a sculpted look.

Reiki Share & Workshops Fridays January 13th & 20th 7:00PM Reiki 1st Degree TrainingThe first degree, or level of Reiki training, is a basic beginners course that is split into two sessions. During the first session, you will learn the history of Reiki, receive your first attunement or energy transmission, and learn the hand positions for self-healing. In the second session, you will learn the hand positions used to direct healing energy into others, as well as, participate in a healing circle (Reiki Share).Price for this workshop is $85.Fridays February 3rd & 10th 7:00PM Reiki 2nd Degree TrainingThe second degree, or level of Reiki training is referred to as Okuden, meaning a more thorough exploration of the self, or deeper knowledge. During the first session you will receive the energy attunement for the second degree. This attunement will raise your vibration allowing you to channel enough energy to facilitate distance healing. You will also learn the Reiki II symbols and their uses. In the second session, we will practice distance healing and review how clear space of negativity. We will also review the major Chakras and you will learn and practice a Chakra balancing technique.Price for this workshop is $175

Custom programs available in Pilates Mat and Apparatus, Hatha Yoga or a combination of modalities.Pilates Apparatus training builds a strong foundation for the successful understanding of the Pilates Method. Explore correct movement skills with particular emphasis on synthesizing breath control, abdominal support and pelvic/spinal alignment.Private Yoga Lessons can help you to deepen your Yoga practice. For centuries Yoga was not taught in group classes, but as a one-on-one practice. This is the primary reason there are so many different styles of Yoga. In a private lesson poses and breathing techniques are introduced and adapted to address your physical needs.

Reiki, Reflexology and IET

Reiki is the universe's gift of vital energy. It is an ancient healing art that allows us to naturally absorb more life force energy. A laying on of hands is used to direct the healing energy into the body of the receiver. Reiki is suitable for both the healthy and the sick. It can replenish our vital energy, harmonize the energy within our body, strengthen our immune system, and assist in the healing process. Reflexology is the technique of applying gentle pressure over the reflex points found on feet and hands in order to stimulate the bodys own healing capacity. Reflexology promotes relaxation and helps the person to return to a state of balance and well-being. The intent of stimulating these reflex points is to eliminate obstruction into the energy channels that are presumed to cause pain and disease.Through human touch interaction and activation of the pressure points reflexology helps to release stress and tension, improves circulation and digestion, strengthens the immune system.Integrated Energy Therapy® is the next generation "hands-on" energy healing system that gently and powerfully clears the energy of repressed emotions that are related to physical and emotional traumas. After clearing, IET reintegrates and balances universal life force energy to flow easily throughout the energy field.
